Local Musicians

  The 78 Sound are a Country, Rock & Roots powerhouse playing venues across the SE corner. The band consists of lead guitarist and vocalist Ben Vellacott, rhythm guitarist Morgan Vellacott, drummer Clayton Vellacott and Daniel Plant on the bass.

  Jasmine started performing when she was only 12 years old, in 2014. She first started singing at charity events in her hometown and has since performed in venues and at events across Australia, she has also participated in multiple music tours across Germany. Jasmine is almost always accompanied by her father Chris, who raised her in the music scene and taught her practically everything she knows about music.

  Josh Arnold is a song writer, performer, and music producer with more than 20 years of industry experience.

  Peter has been playing guitar since the age of 12. He picked up the bass at the age of 14. He played in covers bands and high school musicals as a teenager and was part of a jazz rock ensemble for the first ever stage production of Grease.

  I have been singing and writing songs since I was 14. I've always enjoyed music and singing and I taught myself the guitar.
  
  We now live on our 300-acre property at Cannon Creek, 12 km outside of Stanthorpe, in the Granite Belt of southern Queensland. I love this area - the rocks, the people, the places - a natural beauty comes through - you can see it in their faces - I like that line, I'll have to put a song around it sometime.

  Jason started writing songs almost as soon as he picked up the guitar at the age of 17. "They were all instrumental pieces back then and I would record them on a 4-track recorder to cassette tape before the world went digital."

  The Dog Wood Three are 3 close pals who've been making music together for the last 15 years. This group sees the 3 exploring the mellower side of their musical natures. Their folk tales, anti-establishment anthems and hillbilly blues tunes are peppered with characters and places that they've come across in their lives and on their travels. The Dog Wood Three are raw, authentic and honest.

  James and Thomas Fern are identical twins based in Brisbane and the Southern Downs. Thomas on violin, James on guitar, and harmonies galore!

  Ryon Gibson is a young ukulele and guitar player based in Stanthorpe. He plays covers from popular artists from bands such as Green Day, Nirvana, The Clash and many more.

  The Granite Belt Choir Association Inc. is a community, non-audition choir that always welcomes new voices. No matter what your level of training or ability, there is an opportunity for everyone across the four groups under the GBC umbrella.

  Kathleen Turner Overdrive is a four-piece, femme-fronted, melodic punk band from Toowoomba, Queensland.

  Building his fanbase to over 50 million worldwide streams, Mitch King is well known for his honest, raw and dynamic live performances. Not limiting himself to one genre, Mitch blends vocals, electric and acoustic guitars, harmonica, kick drum and tambourine to create his unique southern blues and Australian folk n roots sound.

  Having started piano from a young age, music has been part of Luma’s life from the start, performing and winning awards in eisteddfods from the age of just four years old. This love for piano continued until March 2019 when he started experimenting with Garage Band, free music software that came with Macs. He knew from that point forward that a career with music production is what he wanted to pursue.

  Nine Year Sister is a multi-award winning pop/folk duo comprised of singer/songwriters Jennie Wardle and Emma Wardle. The sisters from Stanthorpe, Queensland perform sets of all original music, enchanting audiences with their beautifully constructed melodies and angelic harmonies.

  With a career in Australian folk music spanning more than 40 years, Penny Davies & Roger Ilott have developed a huge repertoire of contemporary and traditional folk songs. Best known for their career defining songs Hey Rain! and Where the Cane Fires Burn, the highly acclaimed duo has released 23 albums of exceptionally high quality Australian contemporary folk music. Their music is steeped in tradition, yet influenced strongly by the folk-rock music of their personal musical history. They are arguably the most prolific recording artists in Australian folk music. “Carefully crafted lyrics, narrative impetus, and beautiful close harmonies are strong features of their overall sound.” (Folk Rag).

  Sue Ray is an Australian Indigenous multi-award-winning singer/songwriter that captivates audiences with her original brand of country/blues and roots music, smoky rich voice and high energy performances. Often compared to artists like Bonnie Raitt, Chris Stapleton and Lucinda Williams, Sue’s sound crosses genres allowing her to appeal to a wide audience demographic.

  Stefano Rossi (aka Stevo) is a multi-instrumental artist. His style is a blend of different genres of music that all come together in a psychedelic atmosphere.

  Rusty Pickups are Bernard Borserio, Michael Cook and Lee Fielding - the three remaining members of a poorly thought out ten-piece honky tonk band in Toowoomba, Queensland. With individual musical backgrounds ranging from jazz ensembles to indie pop to 90s grunge, the band‘s sound evolved around Bernard‘s classical piano and Lee‘s clawhammer banjo, with Michael filling in the gaps with simple acoustics and lyrics about love, questionable life choices and dealing with getting old and rampaging children.

  Shieldsy started his music career as a founding member of band “Devils in Heaven” in 1987, the quiet and humble bass player amongst great talent. “Devils” were signed to Sony Music after winning “Starsearch” in 1992 and re-leased a debut single which made the top 100. “Devils” were released from Sony and headed to Los Angeles where they performed a showcase gig and recorded a second 3 track CD, “Liberation”. “Devils” then broke up in 1994.

  Smooth Talk features Elle Rudd on vocals, and Ash Moore on guitar. Based in the Granite Belt region, Smooth Talk caters for pubs, festivals, parties and weddings.   Daniel Sproule is a Brisbane-born Aussie singer/songwriter, performer and entertainer who has spent years working on his craft and is now making inroads in the Australian music industry.

  Sun Light is an up-and-coming young rapper from the Gold Coast, Queensland. He spent his childhood growing up in Stanthorpe and after spending his teenage years listening to lyrical and conscious hip hop music, he started his rap career in 2016 at the age of 13. He dropped his first self-titled album in September 2019 and since then has remained relatively quiet.

  Tuvukica has lived in Stanthorpe (Dalveen) pretty much all his life but was born in Toowoomba and went to school in Warwick.

  Veritalis is a four-piece progressive groove rock band from Stanthorpe/Redcliffe who have their debut album “The Scriblatures” coming out soon. The first single “Nectar/Collector” is available now.

  Adam Warren in an acoustic artist who combines the narrative lyrical style of Contemporary Folk with deep emotional sincerity. Since the release of his first instrumental album, “Skeleton Crew” and his 2019 EP “Earth Burn Avenue”, Adam has supported artists such as Maurice Amour (UK) and Daniel Champagne (AUS).
