Australian Music Radio Airplay Project (Amrap)

Amrap stands for the Australian Music Radio Airplay Project and is an initiative of the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia (CBAA).

It aims to generate airplay opportunities for new, contemporary Australian music on community radio.

Amrap includes four main services:

  • Amrap, an online database of new Australian music available exclusively to Australian community radio stations and their program makers. Music is available to access and download for the purposes of radio airplay or to add to music libraries. Anyone who is not an accredited Australian community radio broadcaster at a station with a full-time broadcast licence cannot access the Amrap site. Any non-Australian artist may not upload music to the Amrap site. Any accounts that do not match our criteria will be deleted without notice.
  • Amrap Pages, a service for Australian community radio stations to list their programming and allow presenters to log their playlists. Amrap Pages is used across hundreds of community radio programs nationwide.
  • Amrap Airplay Search, which allows anyone to search Amrap Pages playlists for artist or track names. This service may be used to track the airplay of releases across Australian community radio, and is widely used by artists and their representatives for reporting.
  • Amrap CD Mailout, a monthly mailout of new Australian CD releases sent to community radio stations. This may be used by musicians in addition to Amrap for additional promotion of a new release.

Amrap is made possible with the assistance of the Department of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications via the Community Broadcasting Foundation.

Ten FM, broadcasting on 89.7MHz and 98.7MHz, is a community radio station with possibly one of the largest broadcasting areas in Australia. Ten FM originally started transmitting in 1983 from a caravan on the top of Mount Mackenzie. The community radio station is now located in the town of Tenterfield, just south of the New South Wales-Queensland border with a second studio in the Stanthorpe Civic Centre.

Major towns serviced include Tenterfield and Stanthorpe, although distant towns such as Glen Innes and Grafton also enjoy coverage during periods of favourable conditions.

The licenced coverage area takes in Woodenbong in the north, Texas to the west, Deepwater to the south and Tabulam to the east. Other localities that enjoy good signal strength include Yetman, Urbenville, Mingoola, Ballandean, Glen Aplin and Bonshaw, along with Wallangarra and Jennings.
